PLANNING & REQUIREMENTS

As the first step in the project, this is where we can review the client requirements or ask/decide on the initial plan for the project.  We can draft out the research methods that we think are pertinent and then factor in time, resources, and budget.

RESEARCH & DISCOVERY

In this phase we begin to research the product and features, and compare them within the competitive market. We will test the current product if available, and document findings and content. This will give us data to review and use as a basis for our designs.

synthesis & analysis

I will take all the data from our research and begin to analyze.  I look for trends in the competitive market as well as with feedback within the desired user base.  If there is a product available, I will also look for trends with the current product that may allow for opportunities for change or improvement.

sketching

Using the information from my research and synthesis, I use this to guide my designs and flows for the new solution.  The sketching process is hand drawing and really getting ideas on a page.  After many sketches I begin to refine into a more focused design of the features or products that are within the scope of the project.

DEsign & iterations

In this phase I begin to wire frame based off of my sketches.  I will review the designs with my team and the initial concepts with the client.  I will first start in low fidelity to get the basis of my designs on the page, then move to Mid fidelity to create a prototype to test.

PROTOTYPING & USER TESTING

I take all my mid fi wireframes and create a functioning prototype.  I’ll have users test the product and review the data.  The iterations are based on the user feedback and usability testing.  I will go through the cycle again until we get to high fidelity.

next steps

This phase can morph into many things.  Next steps may be the proposal, or the presentation to the client, or even the hand off to the developer.
